An autograph quotation signed by American showman Phineas T. Barnum (1810-1891) as "P.T. Barnum" at center. Also fully engrossed by him as "The noblest Act, is that of / making others happy." Written in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 24, 1887. PSA slabbed and graded NM 7. The "m" of "Barnum" is slightly smeared. Light toning recto and minor mounting traces verso, else near fine. Slab measures 7.125" x 4.125".
One could expect that Barnum's expertise in "making others happy" was gained over his 55-year-long career in show business. Yet elsewhere, Barnum employed this sentiment to advocate for unconditional temperance!
