On page before title page is written: The Panim Yafos belongs to the Gaon, the Rav Muvhak, sharp and knowledgeable, meyuchas, crowned with graciousness, our honorable and holy teacher, Rav Yonah Ashkenazi, Av Beis Din of Przeworsk, and currently of סניטין.
The Gaon Rav Yonah Ashkenazi, Av Beis Din of Przeworsk (5575-5646) of the great sages of Galicia, held Torah discussions with Rav Shlomo Kluger, Rav Chaim from Sanz, Ba'al Shoel U'meshiv, Rav Yitzchak Shmelkish and other Gedolim.
When Rav Tzvi Hirsh from Zidichov was imprisoned in Sambor, Rav Yona urged the chief of police to show proper honor to Rav Tzvi Hirsh, which led to Rav Tzvi Hirsh's release, who then gave him a blessing that he should have great wealth and honor. And that is indeed what subsequently transpired. (Chachmei Galicia, part 1, page 347).
