Item/Description: Antique copperplate engraving by Lucas Kilian. Image features profile portrait of an Italian King. Reads: II. REX NEAPOLITANUS. / FORTUNAE CEDENDUM. (fortunae cedendum translates to: must yield to fortune). Reads in part on back adhered label: Guilimus Malus, Roman King of Naples.
Carolus II (rex Neapolitanus) translates to: Charles II (the Neapolitan king). Lucas Kilian (1579 ? 1637) was a German engraver and member of the Kilian family of engravers in Augsburg.
