FASCINATING CARTE-DE-VISITE PHOTOGRAPH
The young man on the left is clearly a Hasidic Jew as evident from his attire and sidecurls (peyot). He does not face the camera. The man to the right is a fully uniformed navy engineer, striking a napoleonic pose. Most likely the men are brothers.
In his section on the Navy, Simon Wolf recorded three naval engineers. Further research may likely lead to the identification of the navy engineer and his religious brother.
