Rare 19th century Anglo-Indian goblet depicting the Ramayana saga, Hamilton & Co., Calcutta, India, circa 1850, engraved with iconography of god-like figures, monkey warrior men, maidens, and houses. This Hindu story concerns a kidnapped princess, her imprisonment and rescue, with various gods and noblemen battling one another. This intriguing goblet was likely engraved to special order. Scratch engraved ''No 12'' inside foot. Maker's mark ''H & Co.'' in rectangular cartouche with an elephant in profile and a third indistinct mark, inside the foot. 7-3/4''h. Total approximate weight 8.4 troy oz. Provenance: Michael & Jane Dunn, 1987.
