New England Shaker Candle stand ca. 1800. Old black surface, simple snake feet, round column, two board pegged on round top (re-enforced with screws). Old family note " This stand belonged to great-great grandmother Kelsey, Polly Parmelee of Pond Meadow Killingworth (opposite cranberry swamp) Married to Jonathan Kelsey, her daughter Densy Marie, Gideon Lane. Her daughter Zerviah Elizabeth m. Wm Seldon Blatchley, Her daughter Eneanor Zerviah m Rollin C Newton. Her daughter, Grace Martha Blatchley Newton, owned this stand. It was used to stand at head of bed and was used for anyone sick in Pond Meadow house. Which dates it back to 1800, probably as Cency was born in 1799." 22" diameter, 25 1/2" h.
