Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach (1910-1995), author of Minchas Shlomo and one of the leading halachic authorities in the last generation. He dealt with many contemporary questions that reflected technological advancements of the times as well as the mitzvos hateluyos ba’Aretz, becoming the authority regarding any questions pertaining to mitzvos of the Land in Eretz Yisroel. His sefer Maadanei Eretz on Seder Zeraim is a foundational sefer on these topics.
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman initially penned his chiddushim in this notebook on only one side of each page in order to allow space for future comments and amendments; indeed, several leaves do include writing on both sides where he later added notes and changes. These chiddushim were subsequently edited and arranged by Otzros Shlomo Institute in the order of the Rambam and printed in Rabbi Shlomo Zalman’s sefer Maadanei Eretz (Jerusalem, 2003).
