The Spinka Dynasty – Sefer HaTishbi with the Signature of HaGaon HaKadosh Rabbi Avraham Abish Horowitz of Kruli, Son-in-Law of the ‘Chakal Yitzchak’ of Spinka, Zt”l

Sefer HaTishbi – a classic work on Hebrew grammar by the renowned grammarian Rabbi Eliyahu Bachur, with the commentary Ragle Mevaser by Rabbi Eliezer Ze’ira (Hershtik). Siget, 1910.

On the flyleaf preceding the title page is the sacred signature of Rabbi Avraham Abish Horowitz of Melitz, Galicia, Av Beis Din of Kruli, zt”l.

Rabbi Avraham Abish Horowitz, Hy”d (1897–1944), A Gaon and Tzaddik of extraordinary stature, a descendant of Rabbi Naftali of Ropshitz, and the son of the Rebbe of Melitz. Already in his youth, he was ordained by the Gedolei HaDor. Son-in-law Admur HaKadosh the ‘Chakal Yitzchak’ of Spinka. When the Chakal Yitzchak relocated from Spinka to Munkatch, he appointed his son-in-law, Rabbi Avraham Abish, as Av Beis Din of Spinka. From 1934, he served as Av Beis Din of Kareli, where he founded a yeshiva with approximately 100 talmidim.

His son was the renowned Spinka Rebbe, affectionately known as ‘Reb Hershele Spinker, ’ zt”l. His son-in-law was Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Weiss of Spinka, zt”l. He is the patriarch of many of today’s Spinka Rebbes.
