Luminescent print, as rich as a salt print can be, the Captain is sitting in uniform holding a small sword.
Roger Fenton (1819-1869) celebrated in the History of Photography for work made as one of the first war photographers, photographing the English in Crimean War March 8 to June 26, 1855, against the Russians. He was a founder and first Secretary of the great British Royal Photographic Society. Besides scenic his architectural views are highly regarded. He had a short photographic career from 1852-1862 then sold his negatives and prints to Francis Frith. Credit Luminous Lint
Condition: Excellent. Tones are 10 on a scale of 10, mount has large section bottom half right with a brown fat stain that does not impact the tones of the print. Mount fair, is brittle with a small tear lower middle edge; light foxing edges of mount and on mount
