JOSEF SUDEK [Portrait Bust, Karla IV, Svatovitske Triforium, St. Vitus Cathedral], Ca. 1942 - 1945, Gelatin Silver Print 6.25x4.6" ASG# JS5/1149 printed later, signed verso has a letter or description Sudek wrote and signed (if anyone can translate this from the images please send us this translation.)

Sudek did much of his greatest architectural photographs in St. Vitus Cathedral. Published p.32 Josef Sudek Foto Grafie Praha 1856.

Josef Sudek (1896-1976) is one of the great masters of European 20th century photography who brought to the medium Pictorial, Abstract, Surreal, and Dada elements that would profoundly influence American photography. Around the beginning of World War II Sudek became fascinated with making contact prints. From then on, he rarely made enlargements, feeling that contact prints were closest to his ideal of the photographic image. He loved photographing the neighborhoods, architecture, monuments and parks of his native Prague and throughout his life the city was one of his favorite subjects.
Condition: Very Good. Silvering, minor edge chipping, handling marks, wear
